Killer (The Skulls #5)(9)
Author: Sam Crescent

“You’ve been married nearly eight f**king years, and you didn’t tell me you were?” He yelled the words, not caring if he scared her.

Her hands covered her ears.

“It wasn’t important,” she said, tears falling down her cheeks.

“Not important. You don’t think it’s important to tell the men you’re intending to screw that you’re married. What kind of slut are you?”

“I’m not a slut!” She finally shouted back. Her arms slashed the air in front of her. “Don’t you dare call me such a thing?”

“I call it the way I see it, babe. You lead men on. You’re a f**king cock-tease.”

“I’m no such thing.” She wiped the tears from her cheeks. “You’ve got no idea why I married him.”

“Then make it clear to me,” he said, panting for breath. His anger caught him unawares, and he needed to take time to calm down.

“My family needed the mon—”

“Fucking whore.”

He reached down, grabbing the edge of the coffee table and tugged it up. The coffee sloshed out of the cups coating the books, and the wood upended in the opposite direction.

Killer trashed her apartment, but she didn’t care. The nastiness coming from his lips hurt her far more than any material goods. Unlike her parents, she didn’t care about tables or ornaments. He stepped close to her. He was too big for her not to take another step back.

She kept taking a step back until her back was pressed against the nearest wall. Killer’s hands went either side of her head. The anger in his eyes startled her. Even with his anger directed at her, she couldn’t stop the arousal building inside her. Her pu**y pulsed at the closeness of him.

“I’m not a whore,” she said, hating the way he saw her.

“You slept with a guy for money. What does that make you?”

“I never said I slept with him. I’ve never slept with Michael.” She cried out as his palms slapped heavily on the wall behind her. He was too strong and could kill her without any effort at all. She knew how he got his name, and he could snap her neck as easily as a twig.

“That his name?”

“Yes, I’ve never slept with him. I’ve never slept with any man, Killer. You’ve got to believe me. I couldn’t sleep with him.”

He stared into her eyes, and then his gaze dropped down to her lips.

“You’ve never let a man inside your pu**y.”

Her cheeks heated. Killer rarely spoke to her so bluntly. You’ve hurt him deeply. You deserve this. “No, I’ve never been with a man, and I had no intention of ever falling for anyone.” She fisted her hands stopping herself from reaching out and touching him.

“Then why did you marry him? We all know marriage leads to something a lot more.”

“Not my marriage. He was going to kick my parents out of their home. They’d gone to rehab and stopped gambling, but we had debts. Lots of debts. I can’t even begin to tell you how many debts we had. Michael was the one calling them in. He needed a wife and offered to pay everything back providing I became his wife. I didn’t think to ask him. I was too busy dealing with the fact I was going to be homeless and so were my parents.”

She told him everything going for the finer details rather than the long ones. Kelsey told him the truth about Michael offering her a honeymoon for the sake of it, but she’d turned him down. Neither of them had any real attraction for each other. At first she didn’t want to tell him the truth, but he deserved to know exactly what happened in her past with Michael and her marriage.

When she was finished, he stared down at her. The silence between them hurt. They had once been able to talk about anything or at the very least have a silence that felt right rather than stilted.

“Why haven’t you divorced him?” he asked.

“I can’t. T-Tate is looking into everything for me.” She had a feeling it was going to take more than a simple divorce to get rid of Michael.

He leaned down, and suddenly his lips were on hers. His tongue danced over her lips before sliding inside. She moaned, grabbing onto his shoulders as he suddenly deepened the kiss bruising her lips with his possession.

His hand moved down, grabbing her thigh to draw her leg over his hip. Through his tight jeans she felt the heat of his c**k burning through to her core.

This was more than she ever hoped for. Circling his neck, he pulled her up close. She wrapped her legs around his waist, shocked when he held her without making any noise at her weight. He rubbed his c**k between her thighs. She felt him get harder as their kiss deepened. Kelsey didn’t know if she could sleep with him. Sex was still something she feared. Killer still made her yearn for something more.

Pulling away, she stared down into his eyes.

She opened her mouth ready to speak, but Killer got there first.

“Last night I f**ked a woman.”

Her heart was torn from her body at his admission. “What?” she asked, unsure if she’d heard him right.

“I went to a bar out of town with Steven and Zero. We had a few drinks, and I f**ked a redhead. Tate kicked her out this morning.”

Kelsey shouldn’t be hurting at the truth he spoke. She was married, but her heart was breaking. He’d been with another woman because of her. You have no right to be upset.

“Could you put me down please?” she asked.

He lowered her to her feet. She couldn’t look at him. The moment she stared into his eyes, she didn’t know what she’d do. Ducking under his arms, she went into her kitchen, grabbing a brush and bucket. She walked toward the mess from her ornament display and some pictures she’d taken of Tate, the baby, and even Killer. Kneeling down, she started to pick up the broken pieces of her life.

He slept with another woman.

Why did she ever think Killer would forgive her? He truly thought she’d been with Michael. There was no way she could be feeling hurt or betrayed. She’d ruined his trust first. Kelsey knew he didn’t want to hurt her even though he’d been with another woman. You should have told him first. There had been plenty of opportunities for her to tell him the truth. She was the fat girl no one ever wanted to be with. Michael picked her because of the convenience. Killer was dumped with her because of Tate needing protection. She tossed the broken pieces of her life into the bucket, feeling her world breaking with each second that passed. The one thing she did in her life she did it for her parents so they didn’t end up on the streets. She had done it for her own peace of mind as well.
